Bob Shank Photography

Bob's Bio

My name is Bob Shank and I am a graduate of Temple University with a Communications degree in the Magazine Sequence. My favorite class was photography where each week I would take my camera out on the weekly assignment, develop the film in my apartment darkroom, and then make enlargements in Temple's darkroom. From these early film experiences, I slowly began to capture moments that were fun and sometimes memorable. Now I have switched almost entirely to digital photography and am buidling a portfolio of numerous subjects.

I enjoy wildlife & nature photography because it gets me out into the outdoors where I can experience the beauty of nature in all its splendor! The Pennsylvania Elk are one of my most favorite subjects and I get to see them frequently at my camp in Benezette, Elk County.

I also enjoy capturing sports action with my camera and have become more proficient in freezing the action and making these memorable moments into prints. My 9 years of coaching experience provides a solid background and insight in how to better capture the special moments during a game.

I lead several wildlife photography trips and workshops with my good friend and professional photographer, Dick McCreight. I also enjoy sharing in special photography outings with my son, James, who is becoming an accomplished photographer in his own right.
